Description: i own the negative to this print.this was a test print. my girlfriend has the other, final print, because she is maria's number one fan. so there are currently 2 copies of this in the world, that i am aware of.12 years ago i worked at an animation studio that gave and where i took a side/after hours classes on alternative photography techniques.this is a contact print made from my negative which was professionally scanned at a very hi-resolution,and then retouched in PS my me. (not bragging, i used to be Very Proficient in Photo-Shop and you will not be able to tell what was touched up..)the outer dimensions are 11 1/2 x 15, inner photo is 10 x 6 1/2.it is printed on a very fibrous, double weight paper that does soften the details somewhat. (and that was on purpose)it looks as if this was taken during a rehearsal sometime in the early to mid 1950s. the bad:-there is a thumb-tack hole at the center top.-it has some handling wear, some edges are creased, there are smudges and the paper has a bit of a curl because it was stored rolled up.-i can't remember the precise method used to make this print.. we tried a lot of different techniques in class.. but i'm guessing this is a salt print. i will update this if i can get in touch with any of my former colleagues/classmates.-the focal point in the negative is more on the background spectators than maria and her partner in the mid-ground. this was part of the reason i used such 'soft' paper.. not if, but WHEN i find the original negative and scan i will of course post those up.also, i have dozens of other negatives of maria that, as i ease back into printing, i will share with ebay. half of are of home life in chicago with her daughter, some others are social candids and a bunch of others are color performance shots from later in her career.. WHY has no one made a documentary or feature about this woman!?!? holler with any questions, concerns or requests, doug PS handling charges will $5.00 if i put in a tube or $20.00 if i send it reinforced and flat.
