Description: For sale is a charming, antique lithograph by American artist and illustrator Bessie Pease Gutmann. This is a chromolithograph is a early 20th century, color printing technique and is titled Awakening. It features a baby awake in a fluffy bed. The print is approximately 16x12"; framed, it is 16.75x12.75". It is framed in its original, early 20th century, hand-painted, floral, frame with glass. The frame has one ding on the left side, but otherwise is in very good vintage condition. The frame is 5/8" wide with a hand-painted pink flowers on a blue background design and gold painted edges. The print is stained from age and was printed by Gutmann & Gutmann in New York. Gutmann was a significant artist at the turn of the 20th century. She was known as an artist and illustrator, noted for her images of infant and young children. Her artwork was featured on 22 magazine covers and illustrated the 1907 edition of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
