The card features the reverse of a Series 1915, $20 Federal Reserve Bank Note, highlighting various transportation modes of the pre-World War I era. These notes were authorized by the Federal Reserve Act of 1913, and issued by Federal Reserve Banks much like National Bank Notes were issued by National Banks. One reason the Federal Reserve Act of 1913 was enacted was to overcome money shortages caused by limitations set by the Government on the number of Bank Notes that could be issued by National Banks. The Series 1915 Federal Reserve Bank Notes were authorized in denominations of $5, $10, and $20.
