Description: This absolutely a stunning antique, extra large Belle Epoque style pendant necklace features glistening and bright paste stones, in a dark metal that is probably silver. It has the looks of platinum or silver. It has darkened beautifully allowing the rhinestones to shine and make a true statement. The pendant measures about 2.75" long and the necklace measures approximately 15.5” overall. It is a unique piece and the quality for the age is remarkable. The clasp is a push slide clsu Paste jewelry is a special type of flint glass that emulates a number of gemstones. Much of the beauty and appeal of antique Paste jewelry is that it was such a difficult and labor-intensive thing to produce. The special Paste glass was cut and polished by hand so that is shone and glittered. Often Paste jewelry was set with a metal base or "foil" to improve the color and luminosity of the glass. And sometimes colored so if you wanted a romantic Ruby red or an amazing Emerald green, paste jewelry had you covered. Paste jewelry was popular throughout the Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian era. Please note that all the stones are present on this piece of jewelry that is over 100 years old!! The clasp rhinestone is off center in the bezel base. Slight yellowing to some stones and typical metal discoloration for age. Please review the photos to ensure it meets your standards. I am not a jewelry expert; therefore I have no idea if a piece has been repaired from its original state (i.e. a clasp being repaired or a stone replaced).
