Beautiful Vintage Rookwood Art Deco Cabinet Vase "XXXV" 1935 #6440 Matte Blue

Description: Featured in this auction is a stunning cabinet vase made by Rookwood Pottery. The vase is in excellent condition with no chips, no cracks, no crazing and no repairs with only a few very small spots with glaze skips (as made) and tiny areas of light scuffing and stray marks from gentle use. This piece is 4-3/4" tall, 4-1/4" wide at the shoulder, and 2-3/4" wide at the top rim opening. The base of the pottery is stamped with the Rookwood Pottery flame mark, the shape number 6440 and the production year XXXV (1935). This ovoid vase features a beautiful, art-deco motif of geometric blocks encircling the shoulder. This spectacular glaze combination is a matte blue underglaze with a stunning, darker-blue crystalline overdrip that has curdled beautifully on the vase both inside and out. The crystals in the glaze provide real texture to the overall finish. The vase is very clean but appears to have some very light mineral staining inside. Stilt marks are just visible on the base.
