Description: This Rare antique black haired, 23 inch Parian bisque doll has elaborate design at the neck and shoulders made in the porcelain itself. (See pictures) Parian dolls were first made in Europe from about 1846 to 1880. They were among the finest and rarest dolls ever made. They were deluxe even in their day, designed especially for the aristocracy. I have documentation that shows that she was entered in two National Doll Exhibits at the Charles W. Bowers Memorial Museum, Santa Ana, CA in 1959 and 1960 and she won a blue ribbon at each Exhibition (Included with the doll, as well as programs and all documentation available.) In the 1960 Eighteenth Annual National Doll and Miniature Exhibition catalogue, she is listed as “#12 marked, Belton” from the collection of Mrs. Josephine Dickerson. She is a beautiful doll and would make a wonderful holiday gift or special addition to any collectors' collection. This beautiful doll is in good used condition, sold "as is," she has a couple paint fade spots, general cloth fading and wear to porcelain consistent with dolls of this age.
