Description: For sale is a beautiful example of a Gunther Barbed or Yana arrowhead. Measuring 1 1/2 x 3/4" and made a beautiful translucent obsidian. This stunner was found on a private Cattle Ranch in the 1980's near Mt. Lassen. Both Gunther's and they're generally slightly smaller Yana counterparts are both fairly common in the area where this point was found. Either way this is a handsome example of either type. Full providence will be available to the buyer Both Gunther's and Yana points are associated Developmental to Historic Phase (1,000 to 200 BP. A couple of instances in Lassen and Bute Counties using radiocarbon dating of charcoal found in the same context have gone as far back as 1,500 hundred BP so this typology goes back quite a ways but continued all the way to around 200 years ago.
