Description: Bavaria Edelstein Set of 3 Cups & Saucers + Extra Saucer Aurora Gold 1929-1972 Bavaria Edelstein Set of 3 Cups & Saucers + Extra Saucer 1929-1972 Aurora GOLD Exquisite Decorative SET of 3 CUPS & SAUCERS plus 1 Extra Saucer, Kups, Bavaria Edelstein Porcelain Factory, AURORA Pattern #20067, GOLD Trim on Handles & Rims, circa 1929-1972 DESCRIPTION: The beautiful set of three cups & saucers (plus 1 extra saucer) was decorated by the Edelstein Porcelain Factory studio using the brown, green and gray color palate. The cups are interestingly shaped as they are very wide at the top and are almost cone shaped tapering to a 1/2" circle in the bottom of the cup which sits on a low pedestal. The trim on the handles is solid gold on the top half of the handle with the rims & the bottom of the pedestals having a narrow gold band. CONDITION: While this set is classified as used, the condition is superb. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches, crazing or hairlines. There is no wear on the gold. See the photos. DIMENSIONS: The cups have a diameter of 4" and a height of 2 3/16". The saucers have a diameter of 6" and a height of 13/16". HISTORY/MARKS: In the time period, 1879-1882 in Kups, Bavaria, Germany, Friedrich Wunder began a porcelain decorating shop eventually converting into a porcelain production factory. Wenck and Zitzmann purchased the business running it from 1882-1890. Ohnemuller & Ulrich took over renaming it the Upper Franconian Porcelain Factory in 1890. It was renamed Edelstein Porcelain Factory in 1919 after being purchased by J. Edelstein. The Edelstein mark on the back of these items was used from 1929-1972 according to Robert E. Rontgen’s Marks on German, Bohemian and Austrian Porcelain 1710 to the Present (mark #3138). Please view all pictures carefully as they are part of the description.
