It will have enough minor defects that it is in clearly worse condition than a brand new freshly published comic, magazine, or book. Allowed defects for this grade include: a spine split of less than half an inch, minor water spotting or other residue, impacted corners, and an accumulation or spine stresses that may break color. An item could be assigned this grade due to either an accumulation of minor defects or one or two moderate defects. Description Note about "Newsstand" vs "Direct" editions: some comics printed during this time period were published for sale in both the direct market (comic stores) and at newsstand locations such as grocery stores or convenience stores. In many cases, the only difference between the two versions is the presence of either a barcode or small logo where the barcode would otherwise be. Most collectors consider both versions to be of equal value. If the only difference is the presence of the logo or the barcode, we do not distinguish between newsstand or direct editions, so it is possible that the comic you receive could have a barcode even if our listing image shows a logo, or vice versa. In cases where there is a significant difference between the newsstand and direct editions, such as one having a foil cover, different color scheme, or other clear variation, we will list the newsstand and direct editions as two separate listings and they will be clearly labeled as such, so you will be able to select which version you want. Cover pencils by Ed Hannigan, inks by Dick Giordano. "The Frequency of Fear," script by Doug Moench, pencils by Gene Colan, inks by Alfredo Alcala; In the middle of the night, Jason Todd awakes from a terrible nightmare and this has not been the first time; Because of his lack of sleep, the authorities at the Child Welfare Bureau have noticed Jason's decline in performance and the social workers decide to investigate the kid's situation; Meanwhile in Arkham Asylum, a writer would like to have an interview with Jonathan Crane, but he is informed that Crane has been released after his successful recovery; Unaware to the authorities, Crane has simply recovered his mental faculties, which only make him a more deadly threat; Elsewhere, Julia Pennyworth asks Vicki Vale for a job at Picture News Magazine and after clearing their differences, Vicki agrees to help Julia; At night, Joker is bound to stand trial at the Gotham Courthouse, but Scarecrow strikes at the place after seeking revenge after he was used during Joker's previous scheme; Scarecrow breaks into the courthouse and using a new device in the shape of a skull, he is able to create crippling fear in those victims who he aims the device towards; Like this, Scarecrow has easy access to the cells at the courthouse, but a few minutes after his attack, the Bat-Signal is activated; When Scarecrow is about to reach the Joker's cell, Batman arrives at the place and confronts the crook. Story continues in Detective Comics #540. 36 Pages, Full Color. Stock image The image for this listing is a stock image provided to help you identify the item, but is not the specific item being offered, nor does it represent the grade or condition of the item you will receive. Please read the item description for any description of grade or condition. In cases where an issue exists in both a newsstand version and a direct edition, the image shown here may show a newsstand copy but you could receive a direct edition, or vice versa, unless the issue title specifically mentions it being the newsstand or direct edition.
