Created, written, and directed by Tom Tykwer, Achim von Borries, and Hendrik Handloegten, it is loosely based on novels by Volker Kutscher. The series premiered October 2017, broadcast by Sky Deutschland. The first release consisted of a continuous run of 16 episodes, with the first eight officially known as Season 1, and the second eight known as Season 2. The second run of 12 episodes, officially known as Season 3, premiered January 2020. Season 4, consisting of 12 episodes, premiered October 2022. In June 2023, the show was renewed for a fifth season. Based on the crime novels of Volker Kutscher this brilliantly intoxicating series is set in pre-World War II Berlin and follows the investigations of Inspector Gereon Rath, (Volker Bruch), and his ambitious colleague Charlotte Ritter (Liv Lisa Fries). BUT don't panic just yet :-) Many DVD players are easy to unlock. Let me know the brand and model number of your DVD player so I see if there is a simple unlock code for your player. Many of my US/Canadian customers chose to play or copy these DVDs on a PC before playing them. I also see there are many economical Multi Region DVD players on EBay ($35-50).
