Description: October 23, 1927 - Barnstorming Game Used Baseball ("Hit into our Yard") - signed by Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, and Lefty O'Doul. MEARS LOA/Hologram, PSA LOA On October 23 1927, Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig squared off against each other (and their respective teams - "Bustin Babes" and "Larroupin Lou's" in a two game exhibition in California. This was just after the historic 1927 campaign in which the New York Yankees won the world series and Babe created the record of 60 Home Runs in a season. As you will see and read in the items pictures, this ball 1927 Official American League baseball was likely used in a pre-game HR derby exhibition at Rec Park in San Francisco, CA where the Babe hit this ball "into our backyard" as written under the Babe's signature by an unknown hand. To make this even better, the ball was also signed by Lou Gehrig and Lefty O'Doul. The visibility of the signatures varies at eye appearance. PSA has authenticated the signatures of the aforementioned as well as the writing that is not decipherable by the naked eye. There is also writing under Lou's signature as noted on the PSA letter. MEARS has also authenticated the game use of this baseball based on the extensive research and documentation that exists from a book written about the Gehrig/Ruth Barnstorming tour by Jane Leavy. Jane also provided a 1927 era stadium diagram pictured that shows the short right field fence line and the apartments/houses that were just beyond the right field fence line. The attribution and documentation support that this ball was hit by Babe Ruth over the fence, then retrieved and signed by the three players.
