Description: I own a specialty advertising company, now in our 45th year - and I was in the industry for many years prior to establishing my own firm. We are now in the semi-retirement stages and I am offering our somewhat unusual advertising pieces collected over the years. Among our better clients was Avon, and we were fortunate to have provided many of their advertising specialties and awards. While going through a box of projects done for Avon, I happened upon this very nice and somewhat unusual tee that we produced for Avon in 1990. Background:In 1990 Avon, in association with the performer Billy Dee Williams, created the fragrance "Undeniable". At the time, this was a major project, and Avon wanted to market it heavily. We were fortunate to work with them on the campaign, producing a variety of products. Avon wanted a wearable, and particularly a high-quality tee with striking graphics. One specification was that the tee had to be U.S.A. made, and as mentioned, good quality. One of our better suppliers of nice wearables was a company called K Studio. Working with Avon and K Studio, we created this striking design for the tee. The fragrance name, Undeniable, was done in gold foil along whit the Avon name in signature red. This was printed on a black garment to achieve an impressive effect. As indicated, Avon insisted upon a domestic made blank, and we used one form Screen Stars, at the time a premier supplier of such goods. It is in 50% cotton / 50% polyester, and this over-run example is a full cut size medium. My sample still has the K Studio hang tag with car instructions. And an Undeniable related side story -I pointed out that Avon wanted to promote this new fragrance, and did so in varied ways. One was to have an internal contest whereby whoever sold the most of the product within a specified period could host a private party with Mr. Billy Dee Williams in attendance! what an incentive! One salesperson was a lady who really liked Billy Dee, and was determined to win the contest...and she did. However, shortly after winning, and hosting Billy Dee, Avon discovered that many of her "sales" were bogus, and without those she would not have won. Unfortunately this saleslady was later fired... So while this over-run sample is now well over 30 years old, it is in NEW condition, never washed, worn, nor displayed. It has been stored in a sealed container in one of our climate controlled sample rooms for all this time. What a find, and only $22.00!
