Avon 1986 Porcelain Figurine - Jessie Willcox Smith "Be Mine, Valentine"

Description: While Avon started making perfumes in 1886, the company added many fine collectibles to their products in the late 20th Century. In the 1980s, they produced figurines based on Good Housekeeping magazine covers created by the American artist and illustrator, Jessie Willcox Smith. This fine porcelain figurine made in 1986 depicts a small boy and girl seated on a bench looking at a Valentine, with the girl holding the envelope behind her back. It is titled "Be Mine, Valentine" and has great detail finished in colorful matte glazes, recreating the Good Housekeeping magazine cover from February 1924 in a 3-dimensional figurine. It is about 4 inches tall with a base that looks like a wood plank floor that is about 3-1/2 inches in diameter. The top of the base has "Jessie Willcox Smith" impressed in one board. The bottom reads " The Jessie Willcox Smith Collection 1986 Holiday Figurine Series Be Mine, Valentine Handpainted Fine Porcelain Good Housekeeping (c) 1924 The Hearst Corporation with the Avon logo Source of Fine Collectibles 1986." It is in very good vintage condition - no chips, hairlines, or crazing - and the listing includes the original cardboard brochure with the original magazine cover illustration on the front and that has more information about Jessie Willcox Smith and the cover.
