Autumn 1931 Colored Pen & Ink Illustration by Dorothy Flack

Description: This drawing, titled "Autumn" was cut from the pages of a 1931 edition of The New York Evening Journal newspaper. It was done by an artist / illustrator by the name of Dorothy Flack. I was lucky enough to come across a small collection of these at a local auction some 15 years ago. This particular drawing was inside a plastic sleeve, stored in a notebook. It appears to me that the drawing has had some coloring added after it was published in the newspaper. It appears to be a watercolor, but there is no bleed-thru onto the back of the newspaper page. I don't think the newspaper would have been able to print this color into the drawing some 90+ years ago... I don't know anything about the history of this piece, nor did anyone at the sale that I purchased it at years ago. I've had this drawing, and the others in my paper collection, but just now getting around to offering them for sale. The drawing measures 6" x 7". It has several small tears along bottom edge; repaired with clear tape on the back side; the paper has yellowed with age and is brittle; see photos attached.I have not copied this drawing, so buyer is getting the only one I have.It is truly one-of-a-kind. I'm going to list it at an auction price, and hopefully the market will determine its ultimate value. It's really hard to price a unique item like this. I'll carefully place this one inside a plastic sleeve and add a piece of white foam board for protection, while mailing by USPS Ground Advantage in a bubble envelope. I'll mail the same day, or next day after payment is received. I will be listing a number of these in the coming days, all just as interesting, yet everyone is unique and different. I've also included a photo of a small biography I was able to find on the internet. It is credited to David Saunders in 2011. I cannot speak to its quality or character...
