Description: Wonderful pair aged but fully authentic James Gillray (1756-1815) etchings from 1806. Matched set of Wide Awake and Fast Asleep. These etchings measure 215 mm in width and 260mm in height. They were published in London by Hannah Humphrey (1745-1818) of 27 James Street. Please reference the photos and magnified photos in regards to the pin holes and edge deterioration present on the paper. This set was not as fully embellished with hand coloring as some other examples, yet the blue, red and ochre color theme is typical. I don't know that framing is original to age, but if it's any indication the wood backing of the solid wood 11" X 13" frames are fastened with small square nails. Definitely museum grade art collectability. As always I utilize a Best Offer format and do my best to be fair and reasonable
