Offered is a Superb Authentic Vintage Bakongo Nkisi Power Figure Fetish. Striking authentic Nkisi fetish figure featuring an enlarged head with encrusted sacrificial material. As characteristic of the Bacongo Nkisi power figure fetishes this example has wicker cord, feathers, glass eyes, and varied sacrificial material. The stomach cavity, packed the magical ingredients (bilongo), in-cased with a glass/mirror cover, and the glass covered eyes are still intact. This Figure has an uncommonly finded filled backpack-style back package as well. I have not seen this feature on another Nkisi Fetish figure example. in the many examples that I have seen in person, online, or even including museum pieces. This item is not dirty, and it should not be clean, due to the fact that the crusting that appears on the statue is actually the original sacrificial or ritual organic matter material that was applied to the Nkishi figure as a ritual behavior, as to worship, appease or nurture the owner’s prized protective Power Figure for favor. The piece is in considerably excellent condition. There are No dents, breaks or scratching on the piece. The figure has a couple original minimal wood splitting lines, which is common for the period,but that doesn't not at all deface the statue. I believe it adds a unique character and authenticity to the piece. This wood spitting is from the original creation of the piece and the primitive wood preparations before carving. The carvings' aesthetic of this figure piece is so Superb.
