The belt appears to be part of a rifle sling that was converted into a belt. As you know, soldiers in the field did what they had to do to survive. Many times Confederate soldiers especially converted items to fit their needs, because their supplies were limited. This is most certainly a possibility that this was from the Confederate Ordinance.
