It is marked on the bottom with the Vienna Turn Wahliss mark -Austria c. 1899-1918 Bohemian / Austrian Ernst Wahliss Turn Teplitz Vase. This is a beautiful hand painted vase by Ernst Wahliss Factory, pre 1918. It is hand painted in wonderful florals with gilded enameled raised dots within each flower. The handles are gold gilded with an iridescent finish. The entire piece has a lovely iridescent glaze. It has very unique Art Nouveau handles and is in excellent condition for its age. Turn-Teplitz Amphora made by EW Turn, Vienna Condition: Good condition. No chips. Minor wear to gilding at tip of handles. The minor wear is almost unnoticeable, that do not detract from how well this piece displays.This vase has no other apparent cracks or crazing. In 1905, his sons Hans and Erich named the company Alexandra Porcelain Works Ernst Wahliss. Manufacturing turned to mostly faïence after 1910. This factory was known for its unique designs. The name Amphora refers to art pottery produced in the Turn-Teplitz region of Bohemia during the Art Nouveau era. These wares are referred to by dealers and collectors as “Teplitz”. Many Amphora pieces included snakes, birds, and even mythical dragons in their designs.
