Description: Aucassin and Nicolette, Andrew Lang, George Routledge & Sons Ltd, 1905, First Illustrated Edition This is an anonymous medieval French fictional story. It is the unique example of a chantefable, literally, a "sung story", a combination of prose and verse. Translated by Andrew Lang, this is part of the Photogravure series and is a First Illustrated Edition in very good condition. The binding is straight and tight, the boards are bright with glit inlays. There is some shelf wear to the spine. The toned end papers and pages are without marks or tears, there is a neat ownership name on the front paper. The original tissue paper protecting the Title page is fully intact. Will be despatched wrapped carefully in bubblewrap and in a cardboard box.
