Description: Concave font embossed "THE NEW YORK" and reverse "E. R. & CO.", applied handle, period collar. Fitted with a period Acorn burner, colorless chimney. Color: Dark Amber, Circa: Fourth quarter 19th/early 20th century. Condition: Undamaged lamp and setup. Size: 2 1/2" H to top of collar, 3 1/8" D base. Literature: Parallels Hulsebus - Miniature Lamps of the Victorian Era, p. 16, fig. 17. Manufactured by Edward Rorke & Co., Ca. 1877. This lamp does not come up for sale very often and I have only seen a few sales recorded.I had a question so I thought I would add what the response was.I've been studying the pictures and I have a question on image # 9. Is that a bruise in the glass in the 7 o"clock position and a chip in the glass on top the handle?ResponseGreat questions and I should have spoken to them. On the top of the handle it seems to me to be that when they applied the handle somehow they touched it, or something it is rough but on top of the rest not damage. As to the 7 oclock I think if you look at picture number 11 where I tried to show the air bubble in the top, just to the left are a series of small little bubbles in the glass, they are under the surface as the glass is smooth. I've not seen this kind of pattern before and even around the rather large bubble is some cloudiness that is unusual. Hope that helps, I couldn't find any example of this in Amber only clear and blue.
