The magazine ran through 1899 and its mission statement was to be:"devoted to Advanced and Practical Esoteric Thought; Oriental and Occidental Theosophy; The New Illumination; How to Climb the Heights of Mental and Spiritual Power; the Science of Understanding, which gives the key to important ancient works. It tells how to make Attainments and ultimate the Ideal of the Ages. It teaches how to secure health and impart the same to others through the law of Mind and Soul vibrations. It expounds many long-hidden truths..." etc.Butler emerged as a spiritual guru in Boston after a 14 year hiatus from public following the chopping off of a few fingers while logging. He was known by various names such as Adhy-apaka, alias the Hellenic Ethnomedon, and Enphoron, alias the Greco-Tibetan, Ens-movens, Om mane padmi Aum. His efforts to found an esoteric college failed under the attacks by Blavatsky and the Theosophists, leading to his arrest. In 1891, Butler moved with his followers and his magazine from Boston to Applegate, California, settling on 500 acre homestead where he continued to print and publish his own works. His most famous book was Solar Biology, a simplified astrological method for horoscopes which is still somewhat influential. Issues in the original wrappers are quite scarce. OCLC cites holdings for any issues in 11 institutions. . Seller ID: 6707 Subject: Astrology, Occult Peruse the Stacks Based in Gig Harbor, WA, we offer all manner of rare books, ephemera, and more.
