Description: An unusually large hand embroidered arts and crafts antique handbag with celluloid frame and chain handle. The purse is made from what appears to be a linen ground and embroidered with warm, autumnal coloured threads depicting a large rose and foliage and some muted bronze thread highlights. The frame and chain handle are made of celluloid imitating tortoiseshell. The lining is a rust coloured cotton. There is a push button closure. There is a small frayed area on the decorative border at the base. There are two embroidered elements which have a loose thread. There is some visible darkening to some of the embroidery. Measurements.:9.5 inches at the widest point10 inches long (the handle adds another 6.5 inches to the total length of the bag - the length of the handle end to end is 14 inches). The push lock is working well and it seems to be sturdy but I wouldn't obviously put heavy items in it.
