Arthur Nevin Etching of a Pair of Whistling Duck Decoys

Description: This is an etching done by famous artist, Arthur Nevin, of two Whistling Duck Decoys. It is signed by Mr. Nevin and numbered 27/250. It is large. The print measures 22 x 29.5 inches. The decoy images are 13 inches from beak to tail. While the images are typical of Mr. Nevin's work, the print is quite unusual because the norm is for him to complete 150 etchings of a drake decoy and 150 etchings of a matching hen decoy. Below the images is writing that identifies the drake decoys being made in Stratford, Conn, in 1880. (If you are not already familiar with Arthur Nevin, his art was an expression of his love for American made decoys which he considered one of the highest forms of American Folk art.) The actual etching is not dated. (The date would be the year the decoys were made.) Below the narrative, he has impressed into the paper, images of three ducks flying, probably Whistlers, and also the name, 'NEVIN.' We have so enjoyed Mr. Nevin's artwork and have a small collection which we love. This on we found recently in Grand Junction, CO, and we are out of wall space. so here it is. It is matted and framed in a wooden, poster size frame with a glass pane to protect it. We strongly recommend that the purchase just be for the actual print, which we would suggest be covered carefully with clean butcher paper then rolled carefully and placed within a tube. The frame and glass are not worth shipping and, if broken, likely would damage the precious etchings. Shipping within the U.S. will be very reasonable and we accept returns for any reason.
