The church is one of the best ecclesiastical structures of early medieval Armenian architecture and is rich in the best examples of early medieval sculptural art. The postage stamp with the nominal value of 380 AMD depicts Katoghike Saint Astvatsatsin Church (VI c. A.D.) located in Avan district of Yerevan. The church is one of the oldest church structures in Yerevan. It had an important role in the spiritual and political life of the time. The postage stamp with the nominal value of 400 AMD depicts Vorotnavank Monastic Complex (X c. A.D.) located in Syunik Region. Vorotnavank was founded by Queen Shahandukht of Syunik. The monastery was one of the famous educational centers of medieval Armenia, which was in direct contact with Gladzor and Tatev universities.
