Comments: [Shirt was obtained at HOG by Jerry Doucette and his road manager when Doucette was touring the release of his "Mama Let Him Play" album circa 1978. Shirt has a backstory. The artwork currently is of unknown origin. Mr. Schaubroeck and Mr. Warhol had distinct confirmed business plans at the time of Warhol's attempted assassination. Please see all photographs and the description for specific condition. See item description for further details.Origin Of This Shirt: The shirt was obtained by Jerry Doucette's road manager on Doucette's USA tour of his first album "Mama Let Him Play". During the tour Doucette opened for Meatloaf, Bob Welsch, Eddie Money and Bob Weir (Grateful Dead). He wrote and released his second album "The Douce Is Loose" and followed it up with concerts that included The Beach Boys and Atlanta Rhythm Section. Still a well known guitar collector, Jerry Doucette and his road manager visited HOG and obtained this and other shirts. In conversation with his manager he said back then their roster was jam packed. but Doucette had a way of finding the great guitar shops. The House Of Guitars In Rochester is still open today in the same location nearing 60 years in business. It was started by Armand Schoenbroeck and his brothers in his mother's basement. It was moved to Titus Avenue when Armand's mom got uptight about instrument sales reps hanging about selling gear. The fascinating shop has come to form part of the fabric of today's music. Quote: "The House of Guitars has become known as a place for professional touring musicians to stop by. Aerosmith, Ozzie Osborne, Cheap Trick, Metallica, Geddy Lee, Pantera, Motley Crue and Matthew Sweet are only a portion of the major acts that shopped and/or still shop at the House of Guitars." Unquote. HOG. The "Good Boy Bench" Armand Schaubroeck, his brothers are living legends of Rock and Roll history and they are represented in this extremely rare shirt. HOG on the front and his band "Armand Schaubroeck Steals" on the back. Who crafted the eagle graphic with the handcuffs on it's legs on the back of this shirt? Armand did dabble in art somewhat after becoming an associate of Andy Warhol. Was it Warhol inspired? Andy Warhol attempted to convince Armand and his brothers to perform nightly on Broadway in New York. Their association continued after Warhol's famous attempted assassination. Who knows? Time won't tell. Time waits for no one. At least it didn't for Andy Warhol. Who created the exquisite "Eagle In Handcuffs" 70's punk graphic ? Siri, Alexa and Cortana don't have an answer. Maybe Armand will own up. In any event whoever purchases it gets to stand on the "Good Boy Bench"...whatever that is. You get to stand there because Armand Schaubroeck said so, on the shirt...-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Background: Once upon a time while living with his mom the phone rang. Someone had learned about Armand's "challenges" and determination. Armand's mom answered the stranger's call and said, "Armand it's for you.". Armand says: "Who is it?" Mrs. S says. "Somebody who says his name is Andy Warhol." A relationship develops.... Then Armand sent some of the recordings to Andy Warhol, who soon became highly interested in making an off-Broadway play of it. “I did a version of this record in the 1960s in the cellar of my mother’s house. I later sent the recordings to him and he got pretty wound-up on it, Armand said." “I wanted him to do a movie, but he wanted to do it correctly because first you do a play and then you sell soundtrack and movie rights.” Armand says he met with Warhol a few times at Warhol’s famous New York City studio, The Factory. At these meetings, Warhol suggested that Armand would play himself, but Armand had no time to commit himself to rehearsing a play, [He had guitars to sell] so the project never happened. Around this time, Warhol was shot by Valerie Solanas, which erased the chance of the play ever happening. Now you can call these recordings, “lost art” since they have never been reissued.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------* "Armand Schaubroeck Steals" was an experimental band, founded January 31, 1963, in Rochester, NY, and was initially made up of brothers Armand Schaubroeck (guitar, vocals), Bruce Schaubroeck (drums), and Blaine Schaubroeck (bass). The name came after a young Armand committed 32 burglaries and was sentenced to 3 years in prison. (He got out early.) After that he accomplished amazing things. Like co founding one of the most successful musical instrument stores on the planet.
