Description: A beautiful vintage architectural study etching by American artist Otto Kuhler (1894-1977). This 1928 view shows the tower of St. Rumbold's Cathedral (Sint-Romboutskathedraal) dwarfing the town houses below in the city of Mechelen, Belgium. The etching is printed in black ink on cream colored laid paper with good margins. It is signed by the artist in pencil and the plate measures 7 3/4 X 5 1/2 inches, the full sheet measures 10 1/4 X 7 1/2 inches. Condition is excellent, no tears or foxing and ready to frame. Otto August Kuhler (1894-1977) was an artist and printmaker, and later a successful industrial designer. As a young man, German born Kuhler befriended the great American printmaker, Joseph Pennell, who encouraged Kuhler to take up etching.
