Description: In 1970 Gary Apsit founded Apsit Brothers of California, which designed and manufactured decorative statues. At first, they hand-painted and signed every single piece. Eventually, it became a hobby for people to purchase the plain white plaster cowboys and clowns and nautical-themed items and paint them themselves. Many of these pieces can still be found in homes today, with their family name stamped into the plaster. However some have no markings, like this piece here.
