Description: Aperitif Aurora Schnapps Glasses Heikki Orvola Nuutajarvi 1970's Set of 6 . MCM. This listing is for a set of six (6) stems in the Aurora shape designed by Heikki Orvola (b. 1943) for Nuutajarvi in Finland. Introduced in 1972, Aurora features a small mound of glass where the stems meet the circular feet, creating a play of light on the table surface that must have inspired its name. They are in perfect, seemingly unused condition. Each measures approximately 9 3/4" tall x 1 1 /2". Orvola was educated at CSI in Helsinki in ceramics and began working for Nuutajrvi in 1968. He has since designed for a variety of leading companies, such as Marimekko, Arabia, and Rrstand.
