Description: This listing is for a handcrafted Navajo Apache Crown Dancer doll mounted on a wood slab base. This is a SMALL Kachina doll measuring about 4 inches tall. The small Kachina's are much rarer and harder to find. You get the EXACT Kachina shown in the photo's. Please look at the photo's for the exact size you can see height and width. The Apache Crown Dancer Kachina is also known as the Mountain Spirit Dancer. He possesses the power to heal and treats his patients by blowing away the sickness. For ceremonies, Apache Crown Dancers are painted under the direction of the Shaman. This kachina features hand carving, bright hand painted details. A masked face a leather skirt with a tie around the waist. The black,white and red colors really make this kachina stand out. This is a very detailed piece with great colors. It is also signed by the artist. (Please look at the photo's) This piece is part of collection from 1966 to present day. The owner has been collecting these beautiful Kachinas most of her life. However with recent passing of her husband it's time to down size :( She was in a large home and is now moving into a very small assisted living space. She is so sad not to have room for her lifetime collection. I have assured her people will love them as much as she has. :) I will be posting many more all different sizes large, medium and some are even smaller then this one :). There are more than 250 different Kachinas, each with its own separate attributes, representing everything from animals to abstract concepts. The Hopi were the original Kachina Doll carvers, using a single piece of cottonwood root.The art of making Kachinas has been adopted now by all tribes.
