The main issue is the tuning knob function. It is erratic and seems to go only down in frequency. The Synchronous Detector does lock on a signal but produces a noticeable howl. An included page explains how to adjust this function.Tuning into a given exact frequency can be accomplished: by using the remote control and entering the frequency, using the remote controls UP and DOWN frequency change buttons or by recalling the frequency from one of the 99 saved positions. The original AOR wireless remote control for the AR7030 and AR7030+ is impossible to find even in used condition. We spent considerable time locating a learning universal remote control that does not loose its programming when the batteries are replaced. We then mapped out a reasonable logical key for key map of all 32 keys on the AOR V1 remote control onto the new replacement remote control."The AOR AR7030 is the result of a combined project between the AOR Company of Japan and a designer group in England. The mini headphone jack will accept a mono or stereo 3.5mm plug. The two line 48 character backlit LCD gives you the status of the receiver. The AR7030 comes with four standard bandwidths. There is a 2.2 kHz filter for SSB. There is a Murata CFK455J 4.0 kHz for AM DXing. There is also 5.5 kHz AM filter and a 9.5 kHz filter. The exact readings for these bandwidths is calculated by the receiver. There is a speaker built into the top panel. The supplied full-featured remote control provides access to virtually all facilities including: volume, tone, numeric keypad, memories, PBT, filter selection, etc. A remote RS-232 level port (5 pin 240° DIN) is also provided for computer control on the back panel. The Auxiliary Socket provides audio and timer outputs plus 455 kHz IF Output. Includes 120 VAC wall transformer. Made in England."
