Description: A 7" tall cylinder-shaped clear-glass antique BABY or NURSING bottle. This is a crude bottle made of PAPER THIN GLASS, it is almost weightless and how it survived 125 years of time as such is a mystery. It is so crude it rocks to and fro when standing. It is an early hand Blown Into Mold bottle (BIM) with a tooled top, dating it back to the 1800's, well over ONE CENTURY OLD, a good 100 years old + PLUS.Bottle embossed: "WILMOT CASTLE / CO. / ROCHESTER / N. Y." Backside has embossed horizontal lines, measurements, with the numbers 1 - 8 OZ. Condition: Bottle is in EXCELLENT CLEAN condition, has some minor haze and that's about it; NO cracks, chips, dings, damage, etc. (See photos for overall condition). Age: A hand-blown bottle (Blown-In-Mold = BIM) with a tooled-top, ca. late 1800's.Shipping: FREE domestic shipping. We DO ship Internationally but we do NOT insure International orders unless buyer specifically requests this and we are able to provide an insurance estimate. If an international shipping charge is much more than the actual shipping cost, we will refund the excess so what YOU pay for shipping/insurance is very close to, if not exactly, the ACTUAL shipping costs! This is important for foreign buyers to know as most of our foreign shipping charges are estimates. We do not falsify information on the Customs Form, such as a price other than what the actual purchase price is, so please do not request us to do so. We ship several times a week and your prompt payment will hasten the turn-around time. Not a commonly seen bottle, most of the nursing bottles you see for sale that are this style are the newer machine made bottles and only have the embossed measurements, NOT the embossed advertising down the front as this one does. These originally took a rubber nipple with a base like the base of a balloon that fit tightly over the neck and mouth of the bottle. This is one of the styles of nursing bottles that replaced the old 'turtle' shaped nursing bottles, once it was found out that the 'new' style 'turtle' nursing bottles presented a hygienic problem. Then the Whitall Tatum OVALE NON ROLLING nursing bottle style replaced this one. Note that this company, Wilmot Castle, originally out of Rochester, New York, went on to produce many other types of medical and dental equipment, large things like lighting fixtures, sterilizers, even coffee pots, urns, guages, and autoclave's, which kind of ties in with this bottle, as these were known as 'Sanitary Sterilizer' baby bottles. Interesting to know that they were actually pioneer manufacturer's' of baby nursing bottle. Actually, the whole bottle is rather unique as we've not seen another, check it out!
