Description: This antique souvenir tea tile was made in Germany by Wheelock. It was produced for W.D. Simons Book and Art Store in Sioux Falls, SD. W.D. Simons published postcards, so they store likely sold local souvenirs. The image in the center of the tile is identified as Phillips Avenue looking south from Knickerbocker Street. I found a few newspaper references to Knickerbocker Street dating back to 1903/1904. It appears this street was renamed a century ago. This item measures 6 3/8" across. Condition is excellent with no chips, cracks, or crazing. There is some wear to the gold detailing. There's also a rough spot on the very bottom (see photo). Because of the glazing pattern, this is from the manufacturing process.
