Description: Antique Weir Ceramic Crock -patent 1832. Lovely Weir ceramic crock used for storing fruit prior to glass canning jars. This particular piece is the first model Weir produced that included a amber glass topper and notch to fasten the wire bale and secure the jar making it air tight. This lovely crock has survived the years with some discoloration to the actual ceramic- giving it a time tested look. Hold the amber glass topper up to the light and see the beautiful rich color of glass used to secure the product in the crock. Pressed into the glass is Weirs name and patent date. A beautiful crock with a interesting history. Measures approx. 7.5 “ in height with a 4” diameter This crock comes without any chips or cracks the only marks are those that occurred during the manufacturing of the crock itself and any creases , dings or glaze drips found on the crock especially at the crocks base.
