Description: This Weimar Porzellan "Katharina" platter was made in Germany. It has beautiful orange flowers with brownish leaves on a beige background. Dimensions: 11.5" L x 10.5" W Condition: Excellent. The gilt edge is worn in some places, but the platter has no cracks or chips. See photos as part of the item description. Based on my research of the maker's mark on the back which has the Wiemar shield with the crown and laurel wreath, I know it was produced after 1917, however I don't have an exact year of production. "In 1917, towards the end of World War I, Hamburg businessman Ernst Carstens acquired the porcelain factory in Blankenhain from Duxer Porzellanmanufaktur AG. As soon as he took over the operation, naming it: "E. Karstens E.G.", he added a crown and a laurel wreath to the company trademark in order to herald in a new era."
