Description: Description: A small Wedgwood jasperware jug in rare crimson jasper with white relief. It is in the Etruscan shape, decorated with Sacrifice Figures motifs surrounded by laurel leaves. I believe this is the smallest size Etruscan shape jug made in this color. It is stamped 48, which means 48 of these would have fitted into a single sagger. Size: 3.5" tall 3" diameter, 3.25" from handle to spout. Mark: Impressed "WEDGWOOD", "ENGLAND" "48" Condition: Very good, light overall soiling, especially to white plain raised bands. Some firing cracks, including at attachment points of handle (see pics); no chips cracks breaks or repairs. This piece shows none of the bleeding which was common to this color (and which led to the limited production). Shipping weight is 1.0 lbs.
