It has been marked by a prior owner "M. Bean". No chips, no cracks, both pins are present and in good working condition, clean legible scales, opens and closes smoothly and tightly. It is additionally marked W. H. Harling. London.The Box Protractor has also been marked "Bean". Although it does not indicate Harling, I am reasonably sure it is part of the original set. The two turned pens are also marked Harling.This is a two tiered box. The box is missing the brass plaque and there is no key. I cannot guarantee the set is complete as I do not know what it is supposed to include. Several of the tools do have minor rust and the ribbon to remove the upper tray is worn.The interior of the box is a deep purple or navy blue silk satin and velvet. The inside of the lid: "W.H. Harling Mathematical Instrument Manufacturer 47 Finsbury Pavement London.About the founder/company - from the web: "William Henry Harling founded the firm in 1851. They specialized in making drawing instruments, with a factory at Grosvenor Works, Hackney, London EC.
