Description: Antique Vintage 1939 Chinese Eight Immortals Silver Filigree Bracelet Antique Vintage 1939 Chinese Eight Immortals Silver Filigree Bracelet Description Antique Vintage 1939 Chinese Eight Immortals Silver Filigree Bracelet Stunning Beautiful Antique-Vintage 1939 Chinese Eight Immortals with Carved Panels in Silver Metal Filigree Bracelet This is a very unusual paneled bracelet that was made in the 1930's and sold in Chinatown, San Francisco By a novelty store called Gin Lung & Company. It is carved Bakelite depicting the 8 immortals which is a fairy tale of sorts That praises those who enjoy perfect contentment in Paradise. There were supposedly 7 men and 1 woman with morals of sacrifice, Honesty, Truth, High resolve and the Futility of earthly riches as a means of attaining the goal of Happiness. The silver colored wire filigree surrounding each panel is very intricate and has a black antique look to it. The piece is very sturdy and can easily be worn. In my extensive research on this bracelet I believe the ovals to be made of Bakelite One of the ovals must have been replaced at one time as it is lighter in appearance and the center figure is darker. The individual ovals are set in a silver colored metal filigree design and are hinged together. The clasp is a V-spring and Box style. The markings on the back say China. The bracelet is 7 inches long and each panel is just slightly under 1 inch wide. The booklet in the photo came with the bracelet and tells the story of the Immortal Eight.
