OFFERED ON A BUY IT NOW TODAY IS THIS LOVELY OFFICERS ORIGINAL WW1 SOLID ENGLISH 925 STERLING SILVER WATCH WITH ITS RARE GOTHIC DIAL AND HANDS THIS IS A SOUGHT AFTER 1917 SILVER TRENCH WATCH. A GREAT WATCH IN FANTASTIC ORIGINAL CONDITION!. TIMED, OILED AND WORKING CASE: The 3 piece SNAP BACK double hinged case to this beautiful watch is solid English sterling silver. IT IS AN EXCELLENT QUALITY SILVER CASE. This would have been an officers watch as this watch was marketed and aimed at Officers who had to buy and pay for their own wrist time pieces as the M.O.D. would not buy them. It has an unengraved case back which snaps on nicely. It has, as you would expect light wear. The case back cover shows some dings and a crease which is commensurate of 'in the field' wear. The case is fully hall marked for solid silver and has the case sponsors initials of 'G.S'. The hall marks date the watch to 1917 (London). The solid silver lugs show no evidence of any old repairs and are in excellent condition. I have gently polished the case and it is shining well, as only hi grade silver can. THE WATCH MEASURES 3.2cms (32mm) IN DIAMETER excluding the crown. DIAL: This stunning collectible watch has a fantastic original fantastic original bright white dial. It is unsigned. You would expect for a watch of 100 years old that it would have a few hairlines, BUT this dial shows no hairlines AT ALL that I can see. The numerals on this fantastic dial are in a rarely used GOTHIC style Arabic numerals. They are sharp and crisp. The dial also has a subsidiary dial which is in nice condition. The crystal in seems to be glass and brand new and as such is in minty condition. The dial has stunning black steel GOTHIC style hands which match the numerals. THIS IS A A RARE DIAL! MOVEMENT: This is a very nice original Swiss made jeweled crown wind and set movement. It is unsigned apart from ‘Swiss Made’ The movement is in working order and has just been oiled and timed my watchmaker. It keeps time to with approximately a minute per day as tested over 24 hours. The movement has a nice compensated balance. BAND: This beautiful and rare wrist watch has a brand new black genuine leather ‘BUND’ band fitted which compliments and fits this wristwatch absolutely superbly!. The watch and band measure a total of just over 9 inches in total length. THIS IS A REALLY GOOD VERY COLLECTIBLE OFFICERS TRENCH WATCH. THE WATCH IS A FANTASTIC EXAMPLE OF ITS TYPE WITH A VERY RARE DIAL DESIGN. This watch has recently been checked. However, shipping can be unkind unkind to watches.
