Description: 1890's Spalding Buck Ewing mitt. Fresh pickup. The earliest player endorsed glove in the hobby! Pre-war HOF and the ONLY ONE to surface so far. Working in sections, dirt is just starting to lift around the "Ewing". The "William" endorsement in the unique way he signed his first name, is present, too. "Spalding" is starting to peek out from behind the 130+ years of dirt and staining, across the top just above the pocket. The Spalding ball logo between the endorsement is also starting to peek out. Extremely well made. Wonderful hand on feel mitt. Due to its historical significance, I have no plans to do anything other than lift just enough dirt for markings to show. Will post additional pictures as the work progresses.
