Description: Gorgeous front entry set from the Victorian era. I can attest to EXACTLY where they came from. I bought an 1887 Victorian in 2003 in upstate, Groton, New York. Unbelievably, I was only the THIRD owner. The original owners had the house built in 1887, their daughter, born in 1906, lived in the house until she died in 1994. A couple bought the house then, and lived there for 9 years, until I bought it in 2003. In the carriage house, behind the main house were dozens of original doors which had been taken off and replaced throughout the house when they had wall to wall, room to room carpet installed in the 1960s. I only ended up living and owning the house for 5 years. BUT, before I left, I stripped all the hardware off the doors stored away in the Carriage House. This is one such set. They are solid brass, or bronze...a magnet does not stick to the knobs, of the the decorative backplates....it does stick to the lock case. It has a plate for each side of the door, beautiful intricate knobs, the lock, but alas no keys. I am not 100% positive they are Mallory-Wheeler, but going by other listings here on ebay, the designs are almost identical. I cleaned up on knob and plate a bit....I will leave the rest to the new owners!
