Description: For sale is an early Gorham sterling basket-style teapot spout tea strainer, dated 1878, as is. The piece is about 1 5/8 inches in diameter and weighs 15 grams. It is quite deep, and has many fine piercings. It has a simple wire bail handle, but is missing the wire that is inserted into the teapot spout. It has never been monogrammed. It is marked on the interior rim with an early Gorham trademark, “STERLING” and “20”, with a “K” date code for 1878. Condition on the strainer is fairly good. It is missing the spout insert, and there are a few shallow dents and normal wear from use. Still a nice old piece of tea silver!
