Description: A gorgeous collectible item with great patina. This antique press was used to mold butter in the early 19th century. It was used after butter was churned, to help shape it into a mold which could be turned out onto a serving dish or plate. It is referred to as "treen" or "treenware" which means household utensils made entirely of wood. This mold is made from either maple or pine, and is very sturdy. It has two parts: a frame, and a press on a handle. The wood has not been refinished or waxed, it is original condition. A great piece of history.
