Description: Antique Tooled Gilt Leather Desk Blotter Cover Folio Russian? Asian? Needs Work! Owned by an avid collector and world traveler. I don't know where he got it or how long he had it. Measures 17 7/8" L x 11 7/8" W. Warriors with headdresses, many with spears and on horseback. One has a trumpet, one holding a bird. Many trees. Judging by the faces I can see, they appear to be Asian (Chinese maybe) but maybe Russian/Mongolian. I am just guessing. Edges done in gold gilt. Inside left side, lacquered paper with gold floral design. Edges worn, blue blotter torn and needs replaced, 2 leather corners holding blotter are torn, 1 completely off but included. Unsure what the scene is painted with, possibly and enamel or lacquer. A bit of wear to it, particularly the faces. Only 1 that can be seen fairly full and another 1/2 worn. Seems that color enamel/lacquer was particularly fragile. Q's, please ask.
