Description: This is a late 19th century antique salt glazed stoneware 2 gallon jug that was made by the Bangor Stoneware Company in Bangor, Maine. It measures 15 inches tall and 9 inches in diameter. The body of the jug is beige/brown and the writing is blue. The jug is in very good condition. It has a wonderful handle with an unglazed part where one would put one's thumb when picking it up - I'm not sure if this was done on purpose or if the glaze was worn off over the years (I would think the former because it adds to the warm feeling of the jug). The only imperfections that I found are a drip near the top opening, and small hole on the side of the jug. There are also lighter areas on the bottom of the jug that I suspect were from where it was placed for firing. Please check the photos. I have calculated shipping and also offer local pick up. Just tell me if you would like to pick it up and we can arrange a time.
