Description: I have an early Stanley SW no4 wood plane for sale.This is a solid plane that I have cleaned lightly, it could be polished to improve it shine. The sole has a patent date APR 19- 10. This plane has good front knob and tote that hold well without movement or repairs, I can't see any cracks or repairs.. and there is the remains of the original Stanley label. The rear tote has a few paint spots that you may want to clean off. The brass adjuster is larger and it has an earlier keyhole cap that works well but has some wear in the back tension band.. a common spot of wear. The frog works correctly and it has a good lateral adjuster that has no slop. The iron and chipbreaker are in pretty good condition, the iron is an early sweetheart logo and it has good length. The jappaning has some wear mainly on the left side next the tote... but is in pretty good condition for its age. This plane adjusts well and has very good body steel, a good mouth, and it feels great in the hand. A very good era, I own one myself and it performs really well... and you can shave with it if you lose your razor .This is a very nice plane that just needs a sharpen and could be improved... a very good original condition plane.
