Description: A Spanish Colonial oil painting on canvas of Christ’s crucifixion depicted above an altar with offerings, likely late 18th century Mexican. The painting is a regional depiction from Mexico usually referred to as “Nuestro Senor de” followed with the accompanying town or province name. The painting is in good condition for age with some surface soiling, light toning, some small scattered areas of worn paint, a few small areas of in painting, small patch repair, etc. There are also a few old dots of candle wax splatter near Christs head and the right side. Verso shows old gesso with candle soot, dirt, and grime. it is housed in a vintage frame with some stain loss/surface wear. Please see all photos for condition.
