Description: An antique Soumak/Sumac rug, in a tapestry style, measuring 5 x 7 feet with a multicolor sun-aged patina of geometric, tribal, zoomorphic birds and insects, and Caucasian Dragon designs. Hand-woven with 100% wool and vegetable-dyed, this rug has a flat pile height. It's ideal as a wall hanging, but could be displayed on the floor as well. Perfect for the bedroom, living room, home office/study, guest room, hallway, or dining room. This weaving is in very good antique condition, with several small repairs (pictured) and some age fading. The ends and edges are complete and in very good shape. This rug is an original piece from the late 19th century to just before WWI , during the Victorian era. It features the Soumak weaving technique from the Shirvan or Kuba region of Azerbaijan, making it a unique addition to any collection. The piece was professionally cleaned in August of 2023.
