Description: Vintage Silver Plated Vesta Case Click image to enlarge Description This unusual Vesta case is made from brass that has been silver plated. It is in the form of a crescent moon with a beautifully detailed face which has a glass eye on one side but, unfortunately, the one on the other side is missing. The hinged lid opens to reveal a compartment for storing matches and there is a strike plate to the back. It has been spot engraved ‘The Commercial Hotel Leeds 1902’ which, I believe, is a good indication of its age. This piece is in lovely condition with no dents and the lid snaps shut very securely. As you can see from the photos, there are some small areas of wear to the plating where the brass is showing through. Please be aware that, after 122 years, there will be some fine surface abrasions caused through handling.
