Ralph Waldo Emerson was born in 1803 and Self-Reliancewas published by James Munroe and Co. Boston in 1841. The book suede/leatherette cover is very fragile (see photos). To minimize wear, I photographed the pages and then marked up the printed copies with highlighter and pen to show differences of this antique version compared to modern versions of the book. The book itself remains original and unmarked. I don't know if this was an advanced copy or not, but, there are quite a bit of corrections and changes I noted on my paper xerox copy compared to modern versions. Hopefully someone can date this by looking at thehighlighted differences to see if those are earlier than 1841.
