Antique Schwarzburger Werkstatten Porcelain Hunter Figure Figurine Porzellan

Description: For sale is a superb figurine made by the Schwarzburger Werkstaetten around 1911 when he was first designed by the famous Paul Scheurich who later on went to the top German maker and is even today one of the most famous designers in porcelain. Paul Scheurich was born in New York to German parents. He was a painter, graphic artist, and sculptor who studied at the academy of art in Berlin. He started to work on porcelain in 1909 at the Schwarzburger Werkstatten but soon went on to become one of the top designers at the top German maker. He also worked for KPM and Nymphenburg . If you like his work these are a must have since the hunter and huntress are the first real pieces he designed in porcelain and you can already see the style he is so famous for in them. He won the Grand Prix for some of his work at the Paris International Industrial Exhibition in 1937. His work is known for the grace of the limbs and the naive yet natural looking faces of his figures. This hunter is no exception even though he is an early piece of his. Nicely modeled and painted in the Art Nouveau style he is a very elegant piece that is a must for any collection. The figurine is 10.5 inches tall, 4.125 inches wide and 3.25 inches deep. He is marked with the under glaze blue fox mark as well as an impressed 45, Made in Germany in blue and the impressed stamp stating Schwarzburger Werkstätten für Porzellankunst . On the back of the base we find the artist signature Scheurich in script. He is in great condition with the only flaw being a large chip out of his left arm from shoulder to elbow that was glued back well and is actually hard to spot. The fox mark has a line ground across it for whatever reason he was deemed a second.
